This webpage of the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment was printed from the Fort Bragg military website some time after June 27, 2000, which is the last update as stated on this document. The webpage states that “the potential of parachutists in combant” was conceived by Ben Franklin in 1784, but the actualization of the concept was not achieved until May 1, 1942 when the 504th was activated at Fort Benning, Georgia. This history describes their missions in African in 1943 through Italy and Holland, where Bachenheimer was stationed although this text is general backgrounda bout the missions rather than specifics about those in the 504. Other missions include the Dominican Republic in 1965 and Haiti in 1994. I tried to find the information on the Fort Bragg website, but there is no active link.

This webpage is from Military.com and was intended to be a tribute to Bachenheimer. I have only the first page unfortunately.
